WA privacy reform: significant automated decisions need scoped review. IPP 10 applies from 1 July 2026 within its scope. Check coverage for each AI use case.
WA’s IPP 10 addresses significant decisions involving personal information, including decisions materially assisted by automated recommendations. The regulator identifies personal information collected on or after 1 July 2026 as part of its application conditions. It is not a blanket rule applying to every private business nationwide.
Use-case investigation: record entity coverage, collection dates, the decision’s significance, the role of automation, impact assessment, human decision responsibility and review arrangements. Preserve evidence showing how these arrangements work for the actual decision.
