Government AI policy moves to version 2.1

DTA records minor updates to its responsible AI policy; the main version 2.0 commenced on 15 December 2025.

Version 2.1 retains the policy’s focus on accountable officials, transparency, use-case ownership, registers, training and impact assessment. The public page does not provide a detailed change list.

Covered entities should check the current policy and applicable implementation dates. Do not assume the minor version resets deadlines or creates new requirements absent from the text. NSW agencies, councils and private suppliers need a separate scope or contractual assessment. Updated 26 October 2026; earlier publication retained.
